In this joint session with NASPGHAN, Isabel C. Rojas, MD from UT Southwestern Medical Center delivered an in-depth presentation on endoscopic surveillance in Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome.
Dr. Rojas opened with an overview of the genetics, diagnostic criteria, clinical presentation, and associated cancer risks of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (7:35). She explored the range of surveillance strategies available, discussing timing, modality options, and the advantages and limitations of each (16:15). Special attention was given to the management of small intestinal polyps and the risk of intussusception, particularly in pediatric patients (24:20).
She also addressed the unique challenges of gastrointestinal surveillance in children with Peutz-Jeghers and compared current guidelines from various societies, pointing out key similarities and differences (33:45). Dr. Rojas concluded with a look ahead at the future of surveillance, including emerging tools and strategies to improve care (38:05).
This session offered timely and practical insights into the management of Peutz-Jeghers and the evolving landscape of surveillance practices.
