Zooming in on the Early Onset Colorectal Cancer (eoCRC) initiative - an international collaboration!

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

On the occasion of #ColorectalCancerAwarenessMonth we are zooming in on the #eoCRC initiative and the work of the DIRECt group. A must-view interview is now available with members of the DIRECt group Drs Swati Patel, Giulia Cavestro, Alessandro Mannucci & Marta Puzzono!

You can view the guidelines, and other useful resources in our newly launched #eoCRC toolkit.

The DIRECt group is an international consortium of multi-disciplinary experts in early-age onset colorectal cancer with official endorsement from multiple professional organizations including the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Gastrointestinal Cancers (CGA-IGC), the European Hereditary Tumor Group (EHTG), the International Society for Gastrointestinal Hereditary Tumors (InSiGHT) and the Associazione Italiana Familiarità Ereditarietà Tumori (AIFET).

More than 80 key multidisciplinary opinion leaders from the global #HereditaryGICancer community collaborated to build international consensus on best practices and knowledge updates to drive the care and treatment of individuals with early-onset colorectal cancer. This collaboration has resulted in guidelines that cover the full spectrum of care ranging from diagnosis to survivorship and will provide clinicians with evidence-based, practical recommendations for diagnosis, genetic evaluation, treatment, surveillance, and survivorship for eoCRC patients.
